Base Camp – Territorial Educational Facilities project comes to life from the winning experience of Base Camp for Future Education of Palermo, Naples and Rome: here, in areas where young people couldn’t benefit from educational and cultural services, and where there was a lack of safe and comfortable places to meet and study, the CESIE, Laudes, Dedalus and Parsec organizations, with our support, have created comfortable and welcoming educational spaces. From the success of this project, Base Camp – Territorial Educational Facilities is born, also married by the Social Enterprise with Children which, as part of the Found for the fight against juvenile educational poverty, supports the project together with us. The aim is to consolidate the previous Base Camp experience and amplify the educational, social and cultural impact on territories, through new operations and the involvement of new players. The renewed project is for boys and girls from 12 to 17 years old, with four territorial educational facilities in the cities of Palermo, Catanzaro, Naples and Rome: the objective is to fight school inequalities and strengthen relationships within educational communities. The new edition of the project focuses on the reproduction of the personalized teaching model - already experimented in the previous edition with students in disadvantaged economic and social conditions - on the involvement of the periphery inhabitants in cultural initiatives, on the strengthening of digital skills and on the conscious use of media, on the creation of a educating community aimed at an alliance between students, families, teachers, inhabitants and Third Sector subjects of each city. The previous non-profit organizations involved in the pilot initiative, namely the Laudes Association, theParsec Social Cooperative of Rome, the Dedalus Cooperative of Naples and the CESIE Association of Palermo are joined by the Calabrese Solidarity Center of Catanzaro where the fourth Base Camp will be activated and the MED, the Italian Association specialized in media education.
