Una vita in giardino (A life in the garden) for patients: a more serene life where they can enjoy nature and more. This is what we have done together Antea with a project that has seen the creation of new outdoor spaces and the improvement of areas inside Antea Hospice to offer patients and guests the possibility of accessing many activities and doing some of them outdoors. From the scent of flowers and green areas, for which a new irrigation system was built, to the scent of delicious food: an area of the garden was set up with ovens, barbecues, tables and chairs under the open sky. Patients and their families have a completely reorganized garden at their disposal: planters and garden therapy beds allow patients, for the first time in a long time, to take care of something, to do. Green areas with new living rooms give families a feeling of outing in the fresh air. In order to ensure the usability of activities even in the winter months, a large heated gazebo has been set up where physiotherapy and occupational therapy activities can be carried out year-round. The opportunity to carry out group physiotherapy activities in the open air represents a time of sharing among patients, which is of great importance for both therapeutic and mood implications. From the scent of flowers and green areas, for which a new irrigation system has been built, to that of delicious food: an area of the garden has been set up as a cooking workshop and dining area with ovens, barbecues, tables and chairs under the open sky to be used with patients for a moment of conviviality or for a family lunch between a patient and his or her loved ones. Spaces inside the facility have also been improved and can accommodate many activities: a new multi-purpose room, colorful and safe, where more patients can do various occupational therapy activities such as pottery workshops or decoupage in compliance with the latest safety measures. Art also has its place in the Center, becoming the protagonist of an area that was previously underutilized due to structural conditions: it is now a cinema and theater hall. The modular stage can host theatrical performances both indoors and outdoors, and the new audio-visual system will give patients and family members the pleasure of watching movies, making them feel almost at home.
