Unemployment primarily affects the most vulnerable segments of the population, such as young people with low levels of education—often due to school dropout—who are searching for their first job or facing economic and social disadvantage. In this context, our commitment to Borgo Ragazzi Don Bosco takes shape. Since 1948, this organization has been working in service of young people, especially those living in difficult situations. In collaboration with the Salesian initiative, we launched the Fast&Future project in 2022, aiming to provide young people with both shelter and training—two key actions that truly integrate them into the national social system. The Fast&Future activities address the social and employment exclusion of numerous young individuals who share an urgent need for employability. Many of them belong to the NEET category: young people aged 16 to 24, including refugees from Ukraine and those serving alternative sentences to imprisonment, who require support in entering the workforce. Additionally, the project benefits unaccompanied minors aged 16 to 18 coming from foster homes or juvenile justice centers (such as the Juvenile Justice Center of Lazio, Abruzzo, and Molise) and individuals who lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, we have launched a new initiative together: Fast&Future – Reloaded. Like its previous edition, the project remains focused on supporting training and integration while introducing additional actions to provide even greater assistance. These new features include psycho-pedagogical guidance, involvement of recruiting companies during training, language skill development for young people of foreign origin, and psychological support. All activities are tailored to each beneficiary, adjusting training to match their skills and challenges. The goal is to offer services that help these young people transition from education to employment through professional training that also fosters their human and personal growth, preventing and combating social hardship and exclusion. At the end of the program, participants will be trained in the most in-demand professions and will undertake internships with companies collaborating in the region.
