For those living in marginalized conditions, having the chance to rebuild their existence is a great gift: it is even more so for ex-convicts and inmates who can take advantage of alternative measures to detention. Especially for young people, in fact, being placed in an educational context instead of in prison increases their chances of recovering and regaining dignity, for a definitive rehabilitation. For more than 25 years, the Comunità La Collina has been promoting solidarity and cooperation initiatives with people who have experienced marginalization, and in particular imprisonment: thanks to the community's action, they can live in a context rich in educational cues by embarking on a path of development that allows them to empower themselves through work and to be able to find employment more easily once they have served their sentences. The project we support intervenes on behalf of the young inmates in several ways: first, it arranges for a young employee of the community, with three years of experience in agriculture, to be trained to obtain the title of Professional Agricultural Entrepreneur. In this way, the Comunità La Collina becomes an Agricultural Cooperative and is operationally led by the young man trained for this purpose. But that's not all: the training also covers other young people to obtain a recognized and workable title in the agricultural sector. We also carry out the energy conversion of the community, with the installation of a photovoltaic system to reduce its energy consumption and environmental impact. Finally, we secure the rainfall-damaged agricultural facilities to allow their use during the boys' training and work period. What are the benefits of the project? Many, for everyone: not only does the community's agricultural activity grow, but so do the training and employment opportunities for young people in difficult circumstances. From a respectful and sustainable way of working the land, new possibilities for social inclusion grow for those who need it most.
