Bringing abandoned places and buildings back to life is a gesture of love for our area. It means giving precious spaces back to the community, transforming them into places to meet and socialize, especially in suburban areas where opportunities for gathering are rare. These interventions not only enrich the urban landscape, but also rekindle local vitality and pride, creating bonds and offering new opportunities for growth and collaboration. For more than a decade, Cooperativa Sociale Terra Felix has been dedicated to cultural and social projects with a strong environmental focus, operating between the northern suburbs of Naples and the southern suburbs of Caserta. Its goal is to inspire people, communities and territories to generate well-being, promoting a sustainable future. The project we support, Fabula – Laboratorio di comunità, aims to give new life to the former Atella City Hall, which has been abandoned for years: an initiative that goes far beyond the recovery of a building, which becomes a cultural and aggregative hub, a reference point for minors, young people and families. How many things can fit in a building? It can fit culture, play, education, and innovation. On the three floors of the cultural hub, in fact, there will be space for a day care center for socio-educational activities aimed at children and adolescents and a bistro bar for the job placement of people with disabilities; on the second floor will be the Archaeological Museum of the Atellan countryside, with educational workshops for students and teachers, while the second and last floor will host an integrated cultural laboratory dedicated to the “fabula atellana” for exhibitions, events and theater workshops and a co-working area for the Third Sector. Replacing desolation with the construction of meaning and the dissemination of knowledge: this is the aim of the project, which is rooted in local cultural identity in order to communicate and expand it.
