For young people from families in educational emergency, life presents great challenges: these young people must struggle to find their way without the love and support of a family. Every young person needs someone to believe in them and offer them the encouragement they need to overcome difficulties, and in these cases the lack of a welcoming guide and stable reference points exposes them more to school dropout and educational poverty. The work of associations such as Il Girasole delle Somasche, which since 2006 has been supporting young people from families in educational emergency in Italy and around the world with various initiatives is indispensable: communities for minors, semi residential centers, cooking and carpentry workshops aimed at job placement and autonomy. But solidarity needs even more space: this is why the project we support, Borgo TreMani, envisages the creation of a real citadel dedicated to minors and their families in the Mulinu Becciu neighborhood of Cagliari, a suburban area with a high rate of juvenile deviance and socioeconomic hardship. What will happen in the village? A multipurpose area will be home to spaces dedicated to different activities, all with the aim of combating educational poverty and school dropout. There will be: a knowledge Area, dedicated to educational and cultural training activities, study support, reception and listening service and cognitive enhancement service; a crafts Area, with several workshops where children can learn arts and crafts and a multi-purpose space for sports. Specifically, there will be a carpenter's workshop, a taste and flavor workshop, a musicians' workshop, an artists' workshop, a digital workshop, a cognitive enhancement workshop, a relaxation workshop, an atelier, and a multipurpose field for basketball, volleyball and soccer practice; a parents School, to support families in difficulty, with both one-to-one and group therapeutic support; in fact, one of the strengths of the project is the creation of educational alliances with adults in the area; an apartment for new adults, intended for girls over 18 to support them in the transition to full autonomy, to ensure the continuation of the process of change initiated during the community path. For boys and girls in need, all the energy of a supportive suburb to enable everyone to grow at the same pace, leaving no one behind.
