Children with blood and cancer diseases, as well as their families, face complex challenges and difficult moments that require not only medical care, but also strong emotional and social support. Projects such as “Casa Libera” (“Free House”) respond to this need, offering a safe and welcoming space where families can find comfort, support and moments of serenity during their care journey. Founded in Brescia, the Associazione Bambino Emopatico ODV (ABE) has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for hemopathic and oncology children for more than 30 years, providing assistance to their families and promoting projects that enhance the well-being and dignity of each child. We have chosen to support the Casa Libera project, within the Nel Cuore dello Spazio Enel initiative, which creates a synergy between us at Enel Cuore and the Enel Spaces of Enel Energia, spread throughout Italy; in fact, also thanks to their proximity to the territory, we give targeted responses to the specific needs and requirements coming from local realities, throughout Italy. The Casa Libera project we support has made it possible to transform a confiscated property in Nuvolera, already partially renovated by the municipality, into a welcoming space for hemopathic children and their families. The renovations included upgrading the water systems, furnishing the interior spaces and arranging the outdoor area, creating a functional and welcoming environment. The facility, now granted on a free loan to ABE, represents a virtuous example of reusing confiscated property, converted into valuable resources for the community. Casa Libera is today a symbol of hope and solidarity for all families facing the hard ordeal of illness. Thanks to this project, young patients and their loved ones can find a safe place where they can experience moments of normalcy and feel supported, under the sign of an authentic and inclusive welcome.
