Every newborn that comes into the world deserves the best care and attention, but for many young patients, life begins with a challenge: prematurity or severe respiratory distress. In these delicate moments, access to timely and appropriate care makes the difference between hope and uncertainty. Established in 2011, the Aurora ETS association works within the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome to improve care for infants admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The association, composed of volunteers, supports the care, research and training activities of the Neonatology, Pathology and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Complex, with the goal of ensuring that every baby has the best chance of care and survival. Every year, about 350 premature infants are admitted to this facility, but available resources are not always sufficient to meet everyone's needs. Partly with our contribution, the project involves upgrading intensive care units through: The purchase of new generation equipment to improve respiratory care and environmental conditions in incubators; the setting up of new complete, self-contained stations to ensure a greater number of adequately equipped beds; the creation of a smart working and relaxation room for parents, offering them a cozy space where they can find comfort and stay close to their babies. Among the equipment needed to carry out this important project are: 2 ventilators for neonatal respiratory assistance 3 incubators with environmental servo control 1 therapeutic hypothermia machine 1 module for non-invasive monitoring of blood gas concentration. Supporting this project means ensuring a safer and more secure start in life for premature infants or infants with respiratory difficulties, giving babies and their families extra hope.
