In a fast-paced world, there are those who are left behind due to extreme poverty, social marginalization, and gender-based violence. Too many people, every day, struggle for survival without a safe shelter, without a hot meal, without someone to listen to them. Since 1990, Cooperativa Sociale On The Road has been working in Abruzzo, Marche and Molise to offer support to those living in conditions of extreme vulnerability. With concrete and targeted interventions, it addresses phenomena such as poverty, human trafficking and gender-based violence, with particular attention to migrant women and minors. One of their most significant projects is the day center for homeless people “Train de Vie” in Pescara, established in 2010 also with our collaboration, as well as that of the State Railways. Located on the premises of Pescara station, this center has become a reference point for homeless people, offering essential services such as health care, orientation, canteen, toilets, laundry, clothing distribution and cultural activities. In more than a decade of operation, Train de Vie has welcomed more than 3,600 users and provided more than 170,000 interventions of practical help. Fifteen years after its opening, the center is in need of upgrading in order to respond even more effectively to the needs of its users. With our support, On The Road wants to make the center's spaces more functional and welcoming, expanding existing services and creating new opportunities for users. The project includes a major renovation of the spaces: on the lower floor, essential low-threshold services will be upgraded, such as the cafeteria, toilets, drug and clothing distribution, laundry facilities, health care, psychological interviews and legal counseling; on the second floor, on the other hand, spaces dedicated to empowerment activities, such as cultural and recreational workshops, will be expanded and modernized, and new areas for training and job placement will be built, which are essential to offer people a real path to social reintegration. We know that poverty and marginality are not just numbers, but life stories, hardships, and interrupted dreams. Supporting the redevelopment of the “Train de Vie” center means restoring dignity and hope to those who need it most.
